(My) Definition of Good Architecture

Tagline: Good architecture is in the eye of the beholder.

Descriptive version: Ultimately, architecture is a blend of art and science with a tendency to be more art than science. Like all art, good architecture is in the eye of the beholder; that is the judgment of what makes good art depends on the tastes and preferences of the person observing the art.

Prescriptive version: As an architect, one must understand all the stakeholders that will observe their work over its lifespan, and make an attempt to either create something that is "good" within their eyes or make a conscious decision not to appease that stakeholder. All of this must be done while satisfying the system requirements, working within the system and project constraints, and without violating the laws of physics.
